Three Brothers – Group painting exhibition

Maison des Arts is honored to invite you to experience the art of these three men – all young faces in the new wave of Vietnamese contemporary art.

from the press release:
In the world of fine arts there have always been cliques. Artists can be friends in daily life, but when they work they need to be distant from each other, to argue and to even feel hatred. Distinguishing oneself is crucial; it is the only way for one to progress.

The Three Brothers exhibition harps on this issue of social tension. Nguyễn Phan Khoa, Nguyễn Phan Bách and Trương Thiện are united in life, but in art they stand alone.

Mastering an oil technique on canvas, Trương Thiện tells stories using meticulous details and attractive colors of vivid red, green and yellow. His dreamlike stories are neither over simplified or sad. They are truthful.

After his first exhibition in 2006, Nguyễn Phan Bách has sought change, pursuing new ways to avoid monotony. He develops his precise figurative artwork using light and dark colors, layering strict spatial construction with hyperrealist details. Using this methodology, Nguyễn Phan Bách explores many artistic mediums.

Nguyễn Phan Khoa focuses on the subject of houses and suburban landscape, yet escapes the trap of making art that is trite or plain in form and color. His landscapes are a pretext to talk about his conceptions of destiny.
