Beat Presser multimedia presentations
From the members email:
Art Vietnam Gallery presents a special evening with the Swiss photographer Beat Presser.
Beat Presser worked as a still photographer and camera assistant with Werner Herzog and Klaus Kinski on various occasions, and will present a multimedia series of photographs he has taken on filmsets, including FITZCARRALDO (1981), COBRA VERDE (1987) and INVICIBLE (2000) which were shot on locations in Peru, Brazil, Ghana, Columbia, Holland, Germany and Lithuania.
The evening will begin with a short talk covering how and why Beat Presser came to the field of photography. This will be followed by a series of 4 multimedia presentations on the various projects Beat Presser has worked on throughout his career. The artist will show still images and film clips while speaking extensively about the projects that have most captured his attention and imagination over the years.
From a series done on Werner Herzogs film sets to collection of images weaned from the highlands of Switzerland to a series of intimate portraits of the monks of Southeast Asia, the breadth of Beats work and the depth of his photographic knowledge promise to make for an interesting evening for photographers and photography enthusiasts alike. The presentation will last approximately 1 hour.
This evening is sponsored in conjunction with the Beat Presser’s Oasis of Silence exhibition to open at Art Vietnam Gallery on March 28, 2008.
