We continue our series of Great French Cinema Classics


HANOI CINEMATHEQUE, Hanoi’s unique ‘art-house cinema’, is a members-only film society.
Memberships are available at the box office for only 100,000VND per year.
Members receive regular emails with detailed schedules and reviews of the films.
Tickets to the films are by donation.

    Hello,

    I was most interested to read that you are going to show the film Lola Montes. But in point of fact, the film was not photographed in Technicolor as stated. The film used Eastman color negative – with remarkable attention to the cinematography, art direction, costume design and makeup. Together these resulted in a very similar look to Technicolor of that period.

    You might also be interested in knowing that the film is currently being restored – by Technicolor, under the auspices of the Cinematheque Francaise and the Thomson Foundation.
