Duong Thuy Duong

Coming and Going

eleven oil paintings by Duong Thuy Duong in her first solo exhibition

“If I should say to the fleeting moment:
Linger a while – you are so fair!”

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Faust

Duong Thuy Duong moves between worlds. She began her career as an artist in Hanoi, where she was born in 1979. After completing her initial studies in fashion design, she moved on to a university education in the field of painting. The change in direction was followed by a change of location – since 2002 Duong Thuy Duong has studied in Germany at the College of Art and Design Burg Giebichenstein in Halle on the Saale.

The Goethe-Institut Hanoi presents “Coming and Going”, eleven oil paintings by Duong Thuy Duong in her first solo exhibition. The titles and themes of her paintings conjure an awareness of the transience of the moment, while bearing witness to a desire to capture the ephemeral – a contradiction that runs through her work like a leitmotif.

The artist will be present at the opening.
