Dai SijieDans la Chine maoïste des années soixante-dix, en pleine révolution culturelle, Dai et Luo, deux lycéens, amis d’enfance et fils de médecins, sont arrachés à leurs familles respectives et envoyés dans un camp de rééducation dans les montagnes de la province du Sichuan. En se rendant dans le village voisin, les deux garçons font la rencontre d’une jeune couturière inculte. Luo ne va pas tarder à en tomber éperdument amoureux.
