Passion for woman - Feminine way everyday
The photographs displayed in this exhibition, all in black and white and all taken before 2000, present different aspects of the daily life of Vietnamese women. “This is an opportunity which I cannot miss, since I have been taking pictures of women for decades;;;”
This is the first individual exhibition by Ngoc Thai, born in 1952 in Bac Ninh. Ngoc Thai has won such prestigious international prizes as the World Photographers’ Association Award and the UN Photography Award. He is now the President of the Art Council of Hanoi Art Photography Association and a member of the Vietnamese Association of Photographic Artists. The photographs displayed in this exhibition, all in black and white and all taken before 2000, present different aspects of the daily life of Vietnamese women.
“This is an opportunity which I cannot miss, since I have been taking pictures of women for decades. I really wanted to make feminine everyday life the subject of my personal photography exhibition. Nothing can add charm to a natural scene as the presence of a woman does. Women are the romance of photography, especially when the picture is in black and white”.
For many years, Ngoc Thai has been patiently choosing the most astonishing panoramas throughout Vietnam in order to portray traditional feminine ways of life. “With this exhibition, I will show a world that is rapidly disappearing. I want to show its beauty and sentiment in the face of encroaching modernity.” This exhibition is included in Italian Cultural Season 2008 “Passion for woman” which is meant not only to show Italian lifestyles but also to be an occasion for Italian and Vietnamese culture to meet in a spirit of mutual understanding and contact. With this aim, the Embassy of Italy is exhibiting the work of various Vietnamese artists. “Passion for woman” offers a wide range of events and pays tribute to the rich and complex world of women.

I had the pleasure to meet Mr. Ngoc Thai in his Ha Noi gallery in 2006, while travelling across Viet Nam. His photographs were stunning and I consider myself lucky to have two beautiful pictures from him.
I so much wish I could see this exhibition.
